Ideology

I am a firm believer that the arts are a critical part of the human experience. They teach us about history, they tell stories, and they evoke strong emotions and feelings. They express what words cannot, add beauty to the world, and provide a common ground for groups of people who may otherwise have nothing in common. I work to strengthen the relationships between arts organizations and their communities, and to reduce the barriers to entry for the arts through inventive, strategic approaches to marketing, audience development, fundraising, and general management. My current focus is on the intersection of community engagement and audience development - strengthening the mutual benefits of the arts on the community and the community on the arts. The arts have had an enormous impact in my life, and I strive to maintain healthy and innovative arts organizations so that they may continue to impact the lives of those in their communities.
